Here is some basic Q & A to give you a better feel for who I am.

What was it like growing up in NYC?

I grew up in Brooklyn and played ball (street games) at every available moment. We played with a Spaulding - stickball against the wall, punch ball, box ball and hand ball. My father died when I was 16 so we didn't have much income. In my last year of high school I almost completely stopped playing ball and studied for a New York State Regents Scholarship exam. I won the scholarship which amounted to $1,400 which was a big number at the time.

Where did you go to school, high school and college?

I went to George W. Wingate High School in Brooklyn which I'm told is now gone. After that I went to Baruch College which was free so I was able to get $175 checks from my New York State Regents scholarship in each of the eight semesters. I majored in economics. It took me more than four years to graduate from college because I switched to night school and was already in business. I went on to New York University Graduate School of Business and majored in investments.

What are your interests?

I have no hobbies. We have a salt-water fish tank in our Manhattan apartment so I feed the fish. I'm a New York Mets fan and go to a number of games each year. Andrea and I travel internationally. We own an apartment in Buenos Aires.

How did you get into real estate?
My first full-time job was with a Manhattan residential real estate owner so I learned the business that way. Later I started buying Manhattan buildings whenever I had cash..

Where did you meet Andrea?

I actually met Andrea at Ed Clark's Manhattan apartment in 1971.

How did you get active in politics?

I actually got involved in politics in 1971 with the formation of the Libertarian Party. In fact, I attended the first national convention of the LP in Denver in 1972. After leaving the party in 1983 I was pretty much out of politics. In 1988 I got involved in Pete DuPont's ill-fated campaign for the Republican nomination for President. I was on his national finance committee and went to Iowa several times to work on a grassroots program. In early 1992 I got involved in term limits and my political involvement has continued since then.

What organizations, are you involved with?

I'm on a bunch of boards including the Cato Institute, Club for Growth, Americans for Limited Government, Parents in Charge Foundation, Legislative Education Action Drive, and The Freidman foundation. There's a Student Sponsorship Program in New York  Andrea and I have been sending kids to Catholic schools for a number of years.
